The competition is now for digital images only.  Images are projected in pairs and the audience votes to keep one and drop the other.
A fresh pair of images is then projected.

This procedure continues until only one photograph remains.

It's pretty cut-throat stuff.  We'd hate to suggest that there may be any tactical voting but, nevertheless, good images can go out in the first round while (let's say) less-than-perfect ones may get through.  It all depends on the luck of the draw.
