We hope you will enjoy this BCC Photo Walk and that the opportunity provides encouragement for
you to develop further photographic skills and to become more creative in your image making.
Please meet up in the Main Entrance Lobby, Ground Floor, Salts Mill at 10.30am. Once we have all
assembled we will take the lift up to the Second Floor Espresso Bar Café. This is the café at the far
end of the Ian Beesley Photographic Exhibition staged in Gallery2 on the Second Floor. Entry to the
Mill is Free of Charge.
Preparation: Most of the walk will be either indoors at Salts Mill, the Streets surrounding Salts Mill,
Roberts Park and The Canal Side, nearly all areas are hard paved with easy walking surfaces.
To retain flexibility it is suggested you consider taking some food and drink with you on the walk.
However refreshments may well be available within Salts Mill.
Communications: Please refer to the WhatsApp Group ‘BCC Photo Walks’. Don’t forget to look out
for any last minute announcements!
It is intended for these walks to be informal with everyone going at their own pace and pausing to
take photographs when the fancy takes them. Hence, you are responsible for your own navigation
and safety. If you are not confident at navigation, then please travel with other people in a group
with at least one person comfortable in map reading and navigational skills, that way you know you
will be safe in this respect. Please carry a phone with you at all times and bear in mind there may
not be a signal everywhere you go.
Today there are no formal route arrangements as there is so much interest to capture your creative
instincts in and around Salts Mill and the surrounding area.
We suggest spending some time inside the Mill where photography is allowed. Inside the Mill are
Exhibitions of Work by the Artist David Hockney and Photographer Ian Beesley. Also worth checking
out is the adjacent Roberts Park, The Canal, The River and Weir and also the fascinating cobbled
streets and period buildings of Saltaire next to Salts Mill.
Following the walk it is suggested we meet up again at The Second Floor Espresso Bar Café in Salts
Mill for a coffee and chat afterwards time TBA.
Remember to post your photos from the walk on the BCC Photowalks Facebook Page
You are responsible for your own well being and safety at all times, please respect the countryside
and enjoy your day out.
