Photography and Impressionist Painting – A lecture about the origins of landscape photography
In France, during the middle of the 19th century, painters and photographers were frequently working in the same locations, as landscape emerged as the main vehicle for radical artistic practice. How did the relationship between painters and photographers evolve and what influences can be discerned in their respective images? How did they change the ways in which nature could be represented to a modern audience?
