Welcome

Welcome to our Bishopthorpe Camera Club Website.

***Our New 2016-17 Programme is now live – please click here***

We meet fortnightly in the meeting room at  Bishopthorpe Village Hall,  although we use the main hall for our regular studio events and for occasional lectures.  We are a “Learning Club” and we warmly welcome visitors and potential new members to any of our club activities.

Our interesting and varied Programme follows our members’ interests and a variety of themes each year. The themes for 2016/17 are:

  • Learn to take better photos and produce better prints
  • Sharing our photos and looking after them
  • To further develop our critique evenings

Chosen subjects this year are People, Landscapes, Architecture and Monochrome

In May 2017 our Annual Lecture will be given by Mark Littlejohn. The lecture, entitled “Out of the Woods”, will reflect Mark’s love of trees and Woodlands as a favourite subject for some years. His talk is split into approaches towards single trees and their dynamic within the landscape, arrangements of smaller groups and their relationships with each other and finally woods themselves with their often primordial atmosphere.

To find out about our next Meeting, our next Cuppa and Capture, our Monochrome Interest Group or reports of previous activities, please click on Events.

There are also details of our Competitions and many resources – Links and Tutorials – that have been accessed from all over the world in the last few years.

You can contact us via the Contact Us Form or if urgent, you can telephone the

Finally, an important “Thank You” to Roger Walton who has finally hung up his webmaster coat for the last time, but who has been responsible for creating and maintaining this site for many years.  All the previous resources are on this new website, but if you feel nostalgic, the old site can be accessed here.  Many of our members came to us because of the old site, and hopefully many more will in the future with the new website, with more people now contributing to it.
